The Ford Transit 2023 may not be a vehicle that most drivers have in mind. But for anyone who wants to get versatility, space, and exceptional hauling capacity, or just get adventurous with the new Trail model, it's a must-have.
This versatile commercial van can be ordered in a variety of body styles, including an extended high-top version that can carry an impressive amount of cargo or tools. Not to mention multiple configurations that can be used in any condition.
Transit is available with two powertrains: a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, and a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The Transit can tow up to 7,500 pounds.
A third, all-electric version, called the e-Transit, has also been available since last year and promises a range of 203 kilometers.
In terms of technology, all Transit models come standard with basic driver assistance features, and Ford's Sync 4 infotainment system is available with a large 12.0-inch screen, new for 2023.
The Transit Trail 2023 joins the lineup and is designed for "van life" enthusiasts looking for a ready-to-go camper base. It features a raised suspension, off-road tires, and rugged exterior styling. The Transit Trail has a wider track and higher ground clearance, making it easier to get to campsites in the most challenging areas. All-wheel drive is standard on this version, and the Transit Trail is equipped with a turbocharged V-6 engine.
The base model of the Ford Transit cargo van is available with a generous selection of standard equipment. This van rides on 16-inch steel wheels and comes with exterior features such as power-adjustable mirrors and a split swing-out rear door for easy cargo access. A four-way adjustable driver's seat and a manually adjustable tilt and telescopic steering column help the driver feel comfortable behind the wheel.
The standard equipment list includes amenities such as Bluetooth connectivity, dual USB ports and air conditioning. In addition, all Ford Transit vans are equipped with driver assistance features such as lane keep assist and lane departure warning.
The Ford e-Transit is also an important cog in the Transit 2023 family. Its electric motor provides up to 266 horsepower. With its 68-kWh lithium-ion battery, it can travel 203 kilometers. Using a Level 3 charging station, it can be recharged up to 80% in 34 minutes and will take 8 hours on a Level 2 station. It offers a maximum payload of 3,880 pounds and up to 4,428 pounds for truncated versions.
Finding charging stations is no problem. The E-Transit's navigation system provides subscription-based access to important news and information, such as weather and traffic information, as well as live access to the best routes. It also indicates charging stations.
Whether it's electric or gas, trail or traditional, the Ford Transit 2023 is a solution that will meet all your needs.
